'Creativity takes Courage'
HENRI MATISSE
My Story
Hi, I’m Jane McCauley, an artist from Hamilton, Ontario. My love for art began at a young age—I started drawing and copying cartoons at four years old and haven’t stopped since. To me, art is a lifelong journey of learning and growth.

Being Canadian, I’ve always been drawn to the bold, fearless work of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. Their ability to capture the rugged beauty of the Canadian landscape resonates with me. My husband and I share a passion for hiking and camping, and through our travels, we’ve witnessed breathtaking scenes that continue to fuel my creativity. Many of my paintings reflect these adventures, bringing the wild beauty of nature onto the canvas. I also find inspiration closer to home—on walks with my two dogs, or exploring the greenspaces of southern Ontario.

Art teachers and fellow artists have played a significant role in shaping my perspective and technique, and over the years, I’ve collected many original works, finding joy in the creativity of others.

Through my own paintings, I hope to share that same sense of wonder and connection with nature, inspiring and moving others just as art has done for me.
