I choose to do this master study of Edgar Payne’s Untitled (Eucalypti) as an exploration of his techniques for creating depth and atmosphere, as well as his distinctive approach to painting trees. Payne had a remarkable ability to convey vast, open spaces with layered colour, value shifts, and bold, impressionistic brushwork.
